Michigan Assistive Technology and Telework Loan Funds:

Michigan's AT Loan Fund provides low-interest loans to qualified people with disabilities so they can purchase AT devices and services. The Michigan Telework Loan Fund which provides loans for the purchase of equipment for people with disabilities to work at home or operate home businesses. Michigan Disability Rights Coalition partners with United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) Michigan and the Financial Health Credit Union to operate these programs.

Over the past fiscal year, 161 loan applications were received. Of these, 60 were approved and taken, 5 were approved but not taken out, and 82 were denied, 5 of the applications were incomplete and 9 were for items which did not qualify (not AT, mostly non-modified vehicles). For the loans approved, the following device purchases were included: 6 hearing aids, 4 home modifications, 3 ramps, 6 scooters, 3 stair lifts, 1 augmentative communication device, 7 computers, 1 denture, 1 CCTV, 1 pair eye glasses, 18 modified vehicles.

As part of the application process, people can choose to receive assistance exploring other AT Funding resources. Application sites are located throughout the state and on the web. For more information please visit: http://www.michiganloanfunds.org/ .
