Automotive Safety Issues for Persons with Disabilities:NHTSA is the federal government agency with the authority to regulate the manufacture of automotive adaptive equipment and modified vehicles used by people with disabilities. Find information on standards, tips on adaptation of vehicles. http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/adaptive/ Toll-Free Hotline For Air Travelers With Disabilities:The hotline will provide general information to consumers about the rights of air travelers with disabilities, respond to requests for printed consumer information, and assist air travelers with time-sensitive disability-related issues that need to be addressed in "real time." The line is staffed from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time, seven days a week. Air travelers who experience disability-related air travel service problems may call the hotline at 1-800-778-4838 (voice) or 1-800-455-9880 (TTY) to obtain assistance. Information about traveling: http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/publications/disabled.htm To file complaints: http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/ACAAcomplaint.htm Travel Magazine:Emerging Horizons is a consumer-oriented magazine about accessible travel. The magazine's primary focus is travel for people with mobility disabilities; everybody from wheelchair-users to slow walkers. Lots of access information, resources, news and travel tips. All with no advertising! Available in print and online. http://emerginghorizons.com/. Project Action:"Free Resources" include a National Accessible Travel Data Base, newsletter and other valuable information. Visit: http://projectaction.easterseals.com. Easter Seals also offers a Project ACTION national toll-free information line. Project ACTION staff can answer questions about ADA rights and responsibilities, direct callers to additional resources, and help members of the disability and transportation communities address diverse accessibility issues.
