    Founded in 1989, The Center for Universal Design is a national research, information, and technical assistance center that evaluates, develops, and promotes accessible and universal design in buildings and related products.

  • National Fair Housing Advocate Online:
    The National Fair Housing Advocate Online is a resource designed to serve both the fair housing advocacy community and the general public with timely news and information regarding the issues of housing discrimination. The site is maintained by the Tennessee Fair Housing Council with financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
  • The Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) Housing Task Force:
    The CCD is a Coalition of national consumer, advocacy, provider and professional organizations headquartered in Washington, D.C. The CCD Housing Task Force works with Congress and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to increase access to decent, safe and affordable housing for all people with disabilities and to protect the rights guaranteed under the Fair Housing Act. This page will give you updates and resources on national legislative issues.
  • The National Resource Center on Supportive Housing and Home Modification.:
    The Center's purpose is to: 1) promote aging in place; 2) help states, communities, the private sector and service providers improve supportive housing and home modification; 3) maximize single family and multi-unit housing as a long-term care resource; 4) equip families and individuals with the knowledge to plan for their housing, health and supportive service needs; and 5) increase accessible and supportive housing that promotes healthy, independent living.
  • The Design Linc:
    These Accessibility Design Resource include design tips for both exterior and interior modifcations.
  • Adaptive Environments Center, Inc.:
    A non-profit organization, AE was founded in 1978 to address the environmental issues that confront people with disabilities and elderly people. Adaptive Environments promotes accessibility as well as universal design through education programs, technical assistance, training, consulting, publications and design advocacy. Its mission is to promote, facilitate, and advocate for international adoption of policies and designs that enable every individual, regardless of disability or age, to participate fully in all aspects of society.
  • National Home of Your Own Alliance:
    The Alliance is currently working in 23 states building coalitions of housing and disability organizations led by individuals with disabilities, their families, friends and advocates. In addition to state technical assistance, the Alliance is developing a national information clearing house in collaboration with the Center for Universal Design in North Carolina, United Cerebral Palsy Associations in Washington, D.C., Co-op Initiatives in Connecticut, the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University in Pennsylvania and the Human Services Research Institute in Massachusetts.
