Dear Friend:
People with disabilities don't always have a say in many aspects of their lives:
… where they live,
… the type of health care they receive,
… and, who makes decisions about their personal care.
The Michigan Disability Rights Coalition (MDRC) fights to make sure that people with disabilities have as much control as they want over really important issues. MDRC is about Advocacy. MDRC is about Choice. MDRC is about Empowerment.
Over the past year, gifts from donors like you helped MDRC to:
- Expand the influence of people with disabilities in Long Term Care which enables CHOICE!
- Fund and support 23 local groups of people with disabilities in addressing their community issues.
- Successfully advocate for the most community-oriented medical necessity definition in the country.
MDRC needs your support to continue this important work in making progress for the rights of people with disabilities. Please consider a contribution that will help us this next year with these priority areas:
- Make CHOICE in Long Term Care a reality in Michigan!
- Support disability activists to build skills through the Cookie Gant Leadership Development Fund.
- Link people with disabilities and policy makers through the Communities of Power Action Cycle.
MDRC and all its supporters resolve that when it comes to decisions, laws and policies that affect the lives of people with disabilities, there is "nothing about us, without us."
