Device Demonstrations

The purpose of a device demonstration is to help people compare and contrast the features and benefits of a variety of devices in order to make an informed buying decision.

Device demonstrations can include one device, multiple devices (such as comparing four different electronic enlarging devices), single category of participants and multiple categories of participants (an employee with a vision disability, their coworker and employer, for example). Device demonstrations can be direct or indirect.

Assistive Technology demonstrations provide an opportunity for individuals to compare, contrast and become familiar with various types of devices. The individual can try out the device before making a purchase. Device demonstrations increase a consumers ability to make an informed decision about the benefits, usefulness and appropriateness of the devices demonstrated for increasing their self-sufficiency and independence in education, employment, and community living.
