"Only in community can we discover the best course of action, claim our power, and act in unity."
-Margo Adair and Sharon Howell
Building Alliances for Disability Leadership (BAD-L) evolved from an outgrowth of conversations among disability rights advocates interested in affirming a future for the disability rights community in Michigan and elsewhere. As we reviewed existing efforts to support emerging leaders with disabilities, we became aware of a gap in our current leadership programs. We have lost track of promising activists age 20 - 35. BAD-L attempts to remove the gap by matching young adult activists with disabilities with mentors, and supporting their relationship with a leadership program that promotes community service.
