Internship Opportunities for Students with Disabilities

NASA Internship

The NASA Goddard Space Flight Center is offering several internships in different programs.  NASA provides specific internships aimed at students with disabilities based on their talents, qualifications and interests.

Technology Information Group Leadership Program

Wells Fargo’s Technology Information Group (TIG) is actively recruiting people with disabilities for their TIG Leadership Development Program.  This is a great opportunity for students thinking about going into management at a big company.   Students graduating in September 2007, with leadership experience, and willingness to relocate to San Francisco, Phoenix or Minneapolis are encouraged to apply.

The Workforce Recruitment Program

The Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities (WRP) is a resource to connect public and private sector employers nationwide with highly motivated postsecondary students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to prove their abilities in the workforce. Employers seek to fill both temporary and permanent positions in a variety of fields.

Leadership Development Seminar

Are you interested in developing disability leadership in your community? Do you want to start a program that fosters leadership within the disability community?  Are you passionate about disability leadership?  Than join Connections for Community Leadership and Michigan Disability Rights Coalition for a seminar covering leadership, teaching leadership skills and give an introduction to the We Lead! Curriculum.

DMI Scholars

The Drum Major Institute for Public Policy (DMI) has launched DMI Scholars program to identify progressive college students from diverse communities and train them in the skills necessary to obtain and succeed in entry-level public policy positions.  College sophomores and juniors who have demonstrated commitment to advocating for fairness and equity, possesses strong communication skills and are interested in exploring public policy as a vehicle for their activism are encouraged to apply.

2007 National Youth Transit Talk

Come discuss how to improve access to public transit at the 2007 National Youth Transit Talk.  The Talk will be held July 27-28, 2007 in Washington, DC.   Young Leaders with disabilities will have a chance to network with national leaders and public officials and other active young leaders from across the country.

National Organization for Law Students with Disabilities

Come take part in creating a new National organization for law students with disabilities.  This new organization will provide and opportunity for fellowship and networking among law students, potential law students and practicing attorneys with disabilities and will allow students to advocate and educate on a national level, in the interests of law students with disabilities.

Conference will be January 27-28 and financial assistance is available to students to offset travel costs.

Between Me You and Liberation

Chicago’s Center for Independent Living are holding a three day workshop for women interested in learning more about how to build a gender-conscious, disability proud, safe space for girls.  This very interactive workshop will take participants through everything they need to think about to start a group for girls with disabilities including: recruitment, curriculum development, group dynamics, capacity building and more.  This workshop is free.

TASH Student Membership Program

Professors, a membership to TASH is on of the most valued resources you can offer students as they enter the disability community in their professional capacities.  The Student Membership Program works by a professor can assign TASH membership as one would a textbook or a package of readings.

30 Voices of LD

In honor of the National Center for Leaning Disabilities 30th Anniversary NCLD is looking for works of art, photography, poetry, videos, essays, short stories, websites, blogs, etc. that express what life is like for individuals with LD.  A reward of $500 will be giving to the winner.

International Juried Exhibit for Artists with Disabilities

VSA Arts is seeking innovative, experimental artists whose works demonstrates the creative fusion of visual art with: interactive or sensory experience, communication and information technologies, movement or performance, and/or audio production.  Open to artists 18 and over who are committed to their artistic progress and who have a physical, cognitive or mental disability.

Campus Progress Awards

Campus Progress, a project of the Center for American Progress, works to strengthen progressive voices on college and university campuses nationwide; counter the growing influence of right-wing groups on campus; and empower new generations of progressive leaders. As part of that project, they are offering Campus Progress Action Grants to help support young people working to make a difference.

Applications are taking on a rolling bases and grants range from $200 to $1,000.
