Would you like to learn more about the disability rights movement in Michigan and learn how you can be involved? Plan on attending the 2008 Michigan CONNECT “Starting A Movement.” Students from across the state of Michigan will be coming together to facilitate, explore and discuss. The purpose of this event is to bring together college students with disabilities and their allies to a four day networking conference with other young leaders from across the state of Michigan. This conference will be centered on building leaders for the disability rights movement. Time will be spent on exploring disability activism on campus and the greater community, student organization leadership, disability pride/culture, and inclusion. This day will use a national model that has been used and successfully implemented in New York, Florida, Idaho, and Iowa.
