Scholarship Opportunities

1. Epilepsy Scholarship Award

The Pfizers Epilepsy Scholarship Award is looking for students with epilepsy that have been successful in school, been active in classroom or community activities, and have a strong to desire to make the most out of college or graduate school.

2.  Alexander Graham Bell Association

The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AG Bell) offers several scholarships for undergraduate and graduate study for the 2007-2008 academic year.

5.  National Mental Health America (NMHA) Awards 2007

Each year, Mental Health America recognizes outstanding work by its affiliates, young people and adult mental health consumers. All award recipients will be honored during events held at the 2007 Mental Health America Annual Meeting, “Bringing Wellness Home,” June 6-9, in Washington, D.C.

6.  Incight Go-Getter Scholarships

Applications are now being taken for the Incight scholarship program.  This program is a long-term commitment to students with disabilities entering and attending college.  It functions to help reduce the barriers of education advancement and completion by providing the necessary skills for youth with disabilities.

9.  Ulman Cancer Fund 

The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults National College Scholarship Program was established to support the financial needs of young adults whose lives have been impacted by cancer and are seeking higher education. These competitive awards are offered through five different scholarship categories which are selected by the Scholarship Committee based on a set of pre-determined criteria.

Campus Groups

1.  Campus Progress Awards

Campus Progress, a project of the Center for American Progress, works to strengthen progressive voices on college and university campuses nationwide; counter the growing influence of right-wing groups on campus; and empower new generations of progressive leaders. As part of that project, they are offering Campus Progress Action Grants to help support young people working to make a difference.


Applications are taking on a rolling bases and grants range from $200 to $1,000.

2. Walk N Roll

Are you interested in quickly raising some money for your student group or your educational trip. Please Consider participating in the 2007 Walk ‘N Roll March 24, 2007!!!

3.  Spring Ball

Ferris State Universities’ Disability Awareness and Education (D.A.E.) invites all students to the Spring Ball, a dance for students with disabilities and anyone that who has an appreciation for diversity. 


The Dance is March 31, from 7 pm to 12 am, at Ferris State University in the Dome Room.

4.  Murderball Screening Kit

Host your own screening of Murderball and raise money to provide wheelchairs for athletes in need.  Help smash stereotypes in your community and raise money to support the US Paralympics.  Host a screening/fundraiser and you will get a free DVD, tips for a successful screening and free discussion materials and "Get Into the Game" flyer.

Job/Internship Opportunities

1. White House Internship Program

The White House Internship Program offers an excellent opportunity to serve our President and explore public service. This program is seeking exceptional candidates to apply for this highly competitive program.  In addition to typical office duties, interns attend weekly lectures, tours and complete an intern service project.

2. Technology Information Group Leadership Program

Wells Fargo’s Technology Information Group (TIG) is actively recruiting people with disabilities for their TIG Leadership Development Program.  This is a great opportunity for students thinking about going into management at a big company.   Students graduating in September 2007, with leadership experience, and willingness to relocate to San Francisco, Phoenix or Minneapolis are encouraged to apply.

3. Workforce Recruitment Program

The Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities (WRP) is a resource to connect public and private sector employers nationwide with highly motivated postsecondary students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to prove their abilities in the workforce. Employers seek to fill both temporary and permanent positions in a variety of fields.

A college coordinator for disability services or career services must contact a WRP coordinator at the Office of Disability Employment Policy for students to participate, wrp@dol.gov.

Leadership Opportunities

1. 2007 National Youth Transit Talk

Come discuss how to improve access to public transit at the 2007 National Youth Transit Talk.  The Talk will be held July 27-28, 2007 in Washington, DC.   Young Leaders with disabilities will have a chance to network with national leaders and public officials and other active young leaders from across the country. 

2. Mobility International- USA Costa Rica

Explore Costa Rica with 12 other emerging leaders with and without disabilities! Participate in an exciting cross-cultural and cross-disability exchange program! Become an ambassador of disability pride by sharing cross-cultural disability perspectives with members of the local community! Develop leadership skills, build self-confidence, make friends, and learn Spanish! Experience Costa Rican culture, food and customs by living with a host family!

3.  ADAPT Youth Summit

ADAPT is holding a youth summit in Chicago for young activists in the disability community. Applications are due April.
