People with disabilities often lack the feeling of being proud and powerful. Connections for Community Leadership is launching a campaign to help people with disabilities empower themselves, gain self-acceptance, and realize the power they can have in their own life and in the community.

Many people with disabilities have a story of beginning to accept one's disability as part of their identity and to take pride in claiming their disability. In this process, disabled and proud bumper stickerpeople with disabilities tend to find their voices and see that they are powerful people as individuals and as part of the disability community. We all can start our own story of becoming Proud and Powerful. Here is one person's story.

CCL and the MDRC Leadership Team have begun developing the concept of Proud and Powerful to help people with disabilities see themselves as leaders. We have a series of Proud and Powerful materials, activities, and more that have been proven successful with a wide variety of people with disabilities.
