Community Organizing Models and ResourcesCommunity Organizing:The Center for Community Change : The Center believes that real change happens when people take responsibility for and take control of the institutions that affect their lives. This site has a variety of tools for organizing around issues. Systems Change Tools:Many people seem to believe that systems change is not something that they can work on locally - that systems change can only happen in Lansing or Washington. Yet change, real change in people's day to day life, is experienced in communities. Real change often starts at the grass roots level. When we work on change at the systems level, we change things for everyone who is in the same situation. This means that in helping people, we don't help them one by one. That is, however, how systems change can begin. If one person is coming to you with a problem, chances are that other people who are in a similar situation are also likely to be experiencing problems. When you find a way to make a change that permanently helps everyone who is in a similar situation, then you are working on systems change.
